On 1st May 2017 the way the government funds apprenticeships in England is changing. Some employers will be required to contribute to a new apprenticeship levy (payable from April 2017 payroll onwards), and there will be changes to the funding for apprenticeship training for all employers.
The changes to the way Apprenticeships are delivered and funded are significant and therefore we are keen to meet with businesses of all sizes to discuss how the reforms will affect you and, if appropriate, plan how their levy requirements can be implemented to provide the greatest return.
All apprenticeships started before 1st May 2017 will be funded through to completion using existing rules. Employers cannot use the Levy and their digital account to pay for these apprenticeships. The apprenticeship levy requires all employers operating in the UK, with a pay bill over £3 million each year, to make an investment in apprenticeships. You can benefit from this investment by training apprentices in new positions or up skilling your existing workforce.
